Sermon Highlight
Where does victory come from? – Christ’s precious, precious blood. It’s gory, it’s messy, and in our modern culture totally weird to be so fixated on someone’s blood. But with respect to everything that we’ve been talking about, there is nothing more important for us – if we want to not have to worry about any of this scary stuff, we need to put our confidence in the work of the Lord Jesus on the cross. That is our security – and what is more, we are not to be ashamed of it. Ever. If you’re a Christian, that’s part of your testimony, you can be proud to claim Jesus as your own.
Homegroup Questions
1) Together as a group, summarise what has happened in Revelation up until Chapters 12&13
2) Revelation can be thought of as a “greatest hits compilation” of all the Old Testament prophets. Which was the last OT prophet you read - what struck you and could you spot any themes running through to Revelation?
3) Chapters 12&13 use imagery from Daniel, Ezekiel and Habakkuk, and we can use them to help interpret these chapters. But sifting through the Bible to help with interpretation can take a bit of work. Do you see this work as something that only certain special people can do, or can we all do it? What are some tips for making it easier?
4) In Revelation “Beasts” refer to ungodly empires. Do you think there any “Beasts” in the world today? Are they something to be feared?
5) Read Revelation 12:11 - What is your understanding of how Christians can overcome 'by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony'
